Jan Ratliff, amazing wife, wonderful mother, loving daughter and sister, and loyal friend entered into eternal life Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the age of 58 years. Jan was born November 25, 1951 in Littlefield to Buddy and Ann Hedges.

Jan attended and graduated from Springlake-Earth High School, and while there was on the state championship basketball team. She was a teacher for Littlefield ISD and had dedicated her life to teaching. She loved all the students and taught more than could be learned from the textbook. Her loving spirit filled not only her classroom, but all that knew her. She practiced true unconditional love and treated everyone equally. Jan never spoke an unkind word about anyone. She cared for her friends just as though they were her own family and believed her home was everyone's home. She always put others before herself; even until her last moments in this world, she was still trying to take care of everyone else. Jan was a Believer in her Lord and walked by Faith everyday. She was a simple woman, who loved the sunrises and sunsets, and loved all the laughter, love and crying in between them. Jan just loved life and embraced all the emotions that came with it. She also loved to fly fish in the streams of the Texas Hill

Country and even taught Craig how to fly fish as well. She was an avid Wildcat fan and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Littlefield.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Craig Ratliff of Littlefield; a son, Jonathan Webb of Lubbock; four daughters, Jerri Ann Booe and husband Kevin of Lubbock, Stephanie Henderson and husband Danny of Lubbock, Tara Humphreys and husband Kris of Littlefield, and Kristen McCain and husband Steven of Littlefield; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie, Taylor and Madison Booe, Zayne and Emry Humphreys, and Avery and Ross McCain; her parents, Buddy and Ann Hedges of Littlefield; two brothers, Mike Hedges of San Antonio and Pat Hedges of Baytown; two sisters, Joan Hedges of Littlefield and Gay Hedges of Littlefield; and many extended family and all her friends she thought of as family.
