Had Been a Resident of Cass County for Eighty Years
David Brody, who had been ill for a long time and who was removed to the Epworth Hospital in South Bend about two weeks ago, passed away there yesterday forenoon, aged eighty four years. The remains were brought to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Alexander last evening, and funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow at 2:30, interment being made in Youngs Prairie cemetery.
David Brody was born in Ohio April 22, 1831, and came to Cass county at the age of four years, the family settling in Newberg township, where he resided until his marriage in the fall of 1855 to Miss Keziah Jones, who preceded him in death ten years ago. They resided in Penn township. They are survived by six children, Mrs. Frank Alexander of Cassopolis, Lewis Brody of Kalamazoo, Chas. Brody of Dowaglac, Mrs. Elowe Sigler of Lansing, Mrs. Wm. Oxenford of Vandalia, and Mrs. F. B. Mix of Sacramento, California.
