Actress, model, TV-presenter, Miss World 1956. She was born in Mönchengladbach as the second of three children. She studied philosophy and history of the arts in Bonn and Cologne when she entered the Miss Germany pageant of 1956. Although she only reached the third place, it was her who was sent to London to participate in the Miss World contest. Surprisingly she won the contest and is up to date the only German to hold that title. Afterwards, she continued her studies and worked from the 1960s on for several television and radio stations, acted and wrote books. Up until 2000, she had worked on over 600 shows. In 1996, she received the Bayerischen Verdienstorden (Bavarian order of merit). In 1967, she gave birth to a daughter, Alexandra, but kept the fathers name a secret. It was later revealed that the father was Gerhard Freund, who at the time was married and had two children. The two married after his divorce in 1973. Her daughter died in 2001 from a car accident after colliding with a wrong-way driver. She was hit hard by the loss and never really recovered. She lost the ability to speak and in 2006 retired with her husband to her house at Lake Starnberg where she died.
