Ethel R. Cunningham, 96, of Coatesville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Harrison Senior Living in Christiana.
Born in Calvert, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Harriet Levi Franklin, and the wife of the late Jessie L. Cunningham.
For 25 years, Mrs. Cunningham worked in janitorial services for the Coatesville School District.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Coatesville.
She was also a member of the ICUA Ushers of Chester County, the NAACP and the Nannie Burroughs Club.
While raising a family she faithfully served in various fraternal organizations including the Eureka Chapter #12 Order of Eastern Star in Coatesville, Order of the Golden Circle Assembly #30 in Chester, Minaret Court #154 Daughters of Isis in Chester, and the PMAM Faith #34 Heroines of Jericho in Sharon Hill.
Mrs. Cunningham enjoyed needlework, cooking and sports.
She is survived by two sisters, Gertrude Hall of Detroit, Mich., and Clarice Sellman and her husband, Robert, of Dunkirk, Md.; two granddaughters; three great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
Two sons, Taberious Reid and Vernon Reid, preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, at Second Baptist Church, 856 Merchant St., Coatesville.
Her viewing will begin at 9 a.m.
Burial will be in the LOV Moses Cemetery, Lothian, Md.
