(This is a memorial only as the burial location of Elizabeth has not yet been verified; however Sam Houston Horton mentioned in his notes from "Life of Col. A. Horton" that his Grandmother, Elizabeth (Davenport) Cooper Barnes Groce, was buried in a grave beside his mother, Elizabeth (Cooper) Horton, in the family cemetery.)

Elizabeth was first married to Adolph N. Latten and they had at least one child, a daughter Ann, born about 1834. On Jan 23, 1837, Elizabeth and Col. Alexander Horton, were married at San Augustine County, Texas, and Ann Latten was reared in their home as a daughter along with Elizabeth and Alex's children, Sam Houston (b. Dec 1837), Eliza (b.1841) and Mary Jane (b.1844).
