Debbie graduated high school in Hawaii and came to Oklahoma Baptist University in the fall of 1973. She graduated with a physical education degree, but more importantly, it was during her sophomore year at OBU she came to personally know Christ as her Savior.
Years later she completed her master's degree in special education, having always had a special love and gift of working with young people, especially those marginalized by society and often considered misfits. It was her delight to teach them and help them gain tools for living. This love is also what led her to her career as a Special Education Administrator.
In March 1986, Rachael Leigh Adams was born and thus began Debbie's journey as a mom. She gladly and warmly welcomed her son-in-law, Andrew Netz, as a new member of the family last April. She was also a loving caregiver for her father both at home and as he moved into a long-term facility.
Debbie's journey took a different path during the early hours this past Tuesday, January 13, 2010, when she joined her younger brother Mark, her mother, also known as "Granny," and her Grandma Willie Underhill, in a place that transcends this earthly plane, to a place where she is home with her Savior, safe and forever loved.
Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her remaining family, sister, Kathy, nieces, nephew, and scores of friends and those who will forever bear her mark upon their lives.
