He retired in 1986 after 40 years of service with International Paper Company. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Paw-Paw Luke, as he was known by his grandchildren, was an avid fisherman and gardener.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby H. Flowers; Four children; Richard L. (Beverly) Flowers of Semmes, Rhonda (Grady) Flint of Pine Hill, AL, Kathy (Douglas) Booker of Wilmer, Pamela (Gary Melton) Flowers of Alexander City, AL; one brother, Dick Flowers of Bay Minette, AL; two sisters, Alberta Barnes of Pace, FL, Eula Lotscher of San Diego, CA; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with a 3:00 pm graveside service to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens where Military honors will be given. Arrangements by Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
