The family name is McArthur not MacArthur. The family name dates well back into the early 1800's in Scotland as McArthur. A couple of the sons moved from Oregon, where they grew up, to Idaho, after they grew up, and got the idea to change the name to MacArthur instead of the name they were born with, McArthur. Notice George's first wife's name is spelled McArthur on her gravestone. It was after his first wife died that he decided to change the spelling of his name.
