Roy was the son of Hezekiah Othneil Henderson and Lucinda Ann Booth. The obit says he was born in Erath County, Texas. However, his WWI registration says he was born in Gordon, Palo Pinto County, Texas.

On 1 Nov 1914 Roy married Nellie D. Robinson in Palo Pinto County, TX. Roy and Nellie had the following children: Alma Mae, Willie Madge, Beatrice Gereldine, Fredrick A., Edna Pearl, Billie Othnell, and two children who appear to died in childhood.

Roy moved to Kansas City in 1925. According to his obit, Roy was employed in the warehouse of Milgram Food Stores, Inc. for the last 12 years of his life. Roy was a member of the William Jewell Baptist church.

Roy, aged 62, died at his home, 1622 Jefferson.

Roy obit lists the folloiwng survivors: his wife, Nellie, and a daughter, Mrs. Harry Norem, both of the home; five other daughters Mrs. Glenn Ballentine, Mrs. Clayton McEvers, Mrs. James Brooks, Mrs. Nick Gambini, and Mrs. Robert Brown; a son, Billy Henderson; a sister, Mrs. Will Uptergrove; two brothers, Ira Henderson, and Herman Henderson; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
