SERVICES THURSDAY FOR WILLIAM NASH
DOG BITE FATAL TO PROMINENT GLADWIN RESIDENT
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, November 4, at 1:30 at the Methodist Episcopal church for William H. Nash. Burial will be at Highland cemetery. Mr. Nash died Monday night, November 1, at 11:30, at the Mercy Hospital, Bay City, after an illness of 11 days, the result of poisioning from a dog bite.
Son of Samuel and Elizabeth Nash, he was born in Medina County, Ohio, August 28,1869. In 1883 he came, with his parents, to Ionia county, Michigan. Here he married Miss Lydia Ann Keopke of Elmdale in the spring of 1897. With his wife he moved to Gladwin county in 1898, where he has since been a resident. To them were born four children, Charles Nash of Reed City, Ivan Nash, Mrs. Doyle Paxton and Mrs. Frank Swanstra of Gladwin. Mrs. Nash preceded him in death in 1929. On December 24, 1934, he married Miss Bertha Marie Hurfer of Circleville, Ohio, who survives him.
When a young man he was in the Mennonite ministry several years which he left to take up farming. He also held the office of county treasurer for two terms, and for the past 18 years has been in the dairy business. Besides his wife and four children, above mentioned, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Charles Studt of Grand Valley, Col., Mrs. Henry Herber of Brown City and Mrs. John Bashroe of Bath; three brothers, Edwin Nash of Flint and John and Walter Nash of Gladwin county; and three grandchildren.
