Edith L. Shinn

Edith Lucinda Shinn, 95, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 26, 1984 at the Oakhaven Manor in Warsaw. She was born on November 7, 1889, in Benton County, Missouri, the daughter of William C. and Victoria Cox Breshears.
She grew up in the Bentonville community and was united in marriage to Walter Shinn on March 18, 1909 at the home of her parents. Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm in the Fairfield community where unto this union 7 children were born. One daughter, Mary, passed away in infancy; Gladys, died at the early age of 4; and a son, Howard, lost his life while serving his country in Germany during World War II.
Her husband, Walter, preceded her in death on June 20, 1967. Following his passing, she continued to make her home on the farm until 1969 when she moved to Warsaw.
She was a member of the L.P. Union Baptist Church.
She is survived by 3 sons, William B. Shinn and Boyd Shinn, both of Independence, Missouri and Hubert Shinn of Quincy, Missouri; one daughter, Mrs. Geneva Adams of Belton, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Last rites for Edith Lucinda Shinn were held at the L.P. Union Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, the Rev. Wayne Miller officiating.
Pallbearers were Richard Stansell, Walter Stansell, Pete Shinn, Wesley Adams, Howard Davis, Howard Alshouse, Timmy Shinn and Eddie Moore.
Burial was in the L.P. Union Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
