Son of George Gitt and Magdalena "Laney" (Tillman) Armentrout. Jacob and Clara Belle had eleven children: Adra Frances "Fannie", Robert Keet, Earl Scott, Loren Fernandez, Elda Winona "Lenona", Oliver Otis Howard, Gertrude Atlanta, William Alton, Delores Lanell, Zenith Wayne and Cleed Basil "Basil" Armentrout.

Jacob Armentrout

KENTON, July 25 - Jacob Armentrout, 71, died Monday evening at McKitrick hospital, Kenton, following an illness of eight years. He was a native of McGuffey.

A retired farmer, he is survived by his widow, Clara Belle; five sons, Earl, New Holland; R. K., Akron; Loren, Neawygo, Mich.; Wayne, Luna Pier, Mich.; Cpl. William, stationed in New Guinea; and four daughters, Mrs. O. G. Fickle, Kenton Route 2; Mrs. Winona Kahley, McGuffey; Mrs. Delores Wilson, McGuffey; and Mrs. Gertrude Leonard, McGuffey. Another son, Basil, was killed in action in the South Pacific August 2, 1943. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Final rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ, McGuffey, with Rev. Hilton W. Wood, East Liberty, in charge of services. Burial will be in Preston cemetery, Alger. Arrangements are in charge of the Preston funeral home, Ada.
