Gordon C. McConkey, 65, of 2122 Gerald Drive, Springfield, died Tuesday (June 2, 1992) at Community Hospital, Springfield.
He was born May 22, 1927, in Cambridge, son of the late Thomas E. and Mary Maud McKim McConkey. He retired in 1982 as yard supervisor for Ohio Edison with 32 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of its choir. Mr. McConkey was past Pomona master of Clark County Grange, Boy Scout master with the Tecumseh Council for several years; former member of the South High School Band Parents; volunteer at Community Hospital and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
He leaves his wife, Mary Lou Shatto McConkey; three daughters, Mrs. James (Sara) Monroe, Mrs. David (Brenda) Warner and Mrs. Jeff (Mary Beth) Cheeseman, all of Springfield; a brother, William McConkey of Byesville; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Conroy Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Pastor Joachim Wilck will officiate.
Burial will be in Vale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association of Clark County or Trinity Lutheran Church organ fund, Springfield.
