HEMORRHAGE IS CAUSE OF DEATH

MRS. ERMA S. SPIKER STRICKEN AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM WORK

Mrs. Erma S. Spiker, 23 years old, 1505 East Main street, an employe of the National Bellas Hess Co., died at her home about 11:30 p.m. Friday, shortly after returning there from work.

Mrs. Spiker, according to Dr. L. R. Wellstead, who was summoned, had worked last night until about 10:15. She complained of a sick headache and was accompanied to her home by a friend, who also was employed at the store. Arriving home about 11 o'clock, Mrs. Spiker called a chiropractor, who administered an adjustment for a headache, of which she complained. Later Dr. L. R. Wellstead was summoned to give medical aid in the case. She died, however, before Dr. Wellstead arrived at the home. Both doctors who had been called agreed that a hemorrhage of the brain was the cause of death. Dr. Wellsted, who is also county coroner, deemed an inquest unnecessary.

Mrs. Spiker is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Casteel of Lancaster, Mo.; her husband, Gerald; three brothers, John of Ottumwa and Thurman and Aubrey, both of Lancaster; four sisters, Mrs. Cecil Leedom and Doris Leedom, both of Ottumwa, Mrs. Averil Small of Bloomfield and Miss Ivalee Casteel of Lancaster.

Short funeral services will be held from the residence, 1505 East Main street, Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Harold Powers, pastor of the Finley Avenue Baptist church. A second service will be held from the Baptist church in Lancaster at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Luther Childs of Centerville will have charge. Interment will be made in the I. O. O. F. cemetery in Lancaster.
