Josiah Gustin was born on 21 January 1748, in Lyme, New London, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America, his father, Reverend Samuel Jr Gustin, was 29 and his mother, Mary Wardner Thomas, was 29. He married Margaret E. Wardner on 25 November 1773, in Marlow, Cheshire, New Hampshire, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 6 daughters. He registered for military service in 1776. He died on 10 February 1810, in Stanstead, Quebec, Canada, at the age of 62.
