Levi Holden Gustin, my 4 X Great grandfather, was a farmer and businessman whose father Josiah Gustin fought in the Revolutionary war, with his grandfather Samuel Gustin Jr. Great grandfather Samuel Gustin Sr is descendant of French Huguenot John Gustin (Augustine Le Rossignol Jean) who was a ship Captain who fled from Isle of Jersey to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. This family fled Iowa back to Stanstead, Quebec, Canada when the Sioux Indians would attack the Iowa settlements. Then they would trek back to their farm lands in Algona area of Iowa. The men of this family were life members of the I.O.O.F (Independent Order of Odd Fellows). Family records state he was buried in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Iowa.
