CHARLES KALINA-
Charles Kalina, beloved husband of Josie Kalina, passed away on to his eternal home on Saturday April 3, 1976, at the Pawnee Memorial hospital. He was born October 9, 1894 near Table Rock in Pawnee County to Frank Kalina and Josephine Svanda.
Charles grew to manhood and lived his entire lifetime here. He graduated from the local schools and his desire for learning continued throughout his lifetime.
Mr. Kalina was a member of the United Presbyterian Church where he was baptized and found the Lord.
He spent his working years as a farmer. As a younger man, he served as Director of the school board of District 35. He was a member of the Pawnee County ASCS Committee for 11 years, then of which he was voted chairman. He was an active member of the Soil Conservation Committee for over 20 years.
Charles was very fond of his music and tried to encourage it in young people.
It was the privilege and pleasure of the Kalinas to do extensive traveling, which included all 50 states of the U.S. He loved life and never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Josie; two daughters Lorna Krueger and Lauriena Thompson of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Rudy and Emil; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frank, Joe and John, and one grandchild.
Interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
