She was born at The Creek, Northfleet, on 16th September 1919, she was not baptised, due to her mother's ill health. She survived a diptheria attack at age 7, during which she was kept isolated in her room and fed with food winched up to her window in a basket.
She lived at 36 Samaritan Grove, Northfleet, until her marriage to Leonard Albert Lee at St Botolph's Church, Northfleet, on 28th September 1940, when she moved to 8 Samaritan Grove, Northfleet. She had a daughter, June Ellen, 1943.
In 1964 the street was demolished and she moved first to 16 Shepherd Street, Northfleet, then 4 Farlow Close, Northfleet and 24 Fisherman's Hill, Northfleet.She was widowed in 1978. She moved to 90 High Street, Northfleet, in 1980 where she remained until entering Shrewsbury House Nursing Home, Springhead Road, Northfleet, 6 months before her death.
Between 1934 and 1940 she worked as a supervisor at British Home Stores, Gravesend, and from 1940 until1943 was a Wages clerk at Henley's Cables, Northfleet, which she undertook as war work. She was a talented amateur writer, poet and painter.
She died of kidney failure in July 2001, two years after suffering a severe stroke.
She was cremated at Medway Crematorium.
