George Iddings died Dec. 30, 2008 at DeKalb Hospital. He retired in 1996 from Dana Corp. in Fort Wayne. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the Avilla American Legion Post 240, LaGrange Gas and Steam Association and Cedar Creek Engine Club. He had attended Indian Village Church of God. He was born Feb. 10, 1931 in Avilla to Robert and Mary (Christlieb) Iddings. He married Beverly Grogg Shoudel on April 1, 1977. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Iddings of Turkey Lake and Gary and Linda Iddings of Pleasant Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ronnie Cooper of Butler; 3 stepchildren; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Wanda Iddings of West Virginia; and 5 sisters and a brother-in-law, Sandra Rutherford of Albion, Wanda Cowley of LaGrange, Linda Dilly of Auburn, Lois and Hal Harp of Kendallville and Blanch Iddings of Auburn. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald. Services Sunday at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, Auburn. Burial, Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.
