Dorothy Evelyn Allen
Black Mountain - Dorothy Allen, 96, of Highland Farms, Black Mountain, died Sunday, December 27, 2009. Mrs. Allen was born in Shelby County, Indiana on April 2, 1913 to the late Bernard and Marie Mutz Breeding. She graduated from Hanover College, Hanover, Indiana, in 1935.

In 1940 she married the Reverend Herman Frank Allen. They were married 64 years before his death in 2004.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jane Allen Miles and her husband, John, of Charlotte; grandson, James Michael Allen Begole and his wife, Florence, of Los Altos, Calif.; granddaughter, Cary Begole of Richmond, Va.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff members of Highland Farms, especially Laurel Hall personnel. Their loving care and concern for Mrs. Allen will always be remembered.

A service of remembrance will be held on 2 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, in the Highland Farms Chapel, 200 Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain. Private burial will be at Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church and College Chapel Ash Garden.
