Parksville: Gladys Marie Coffman Raley, 79, passed away Saturday May 31, 2014. Mrs. Raley was born January 7, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late John William and Irene Lewis Coffman and was the widow of Joe Raley. Mrs. Raley had a caring heart and would regularly help others in need. She was a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church, VFW Post #3634 ladies auxiliary, American Legion Post #345 ladies auxiliary, enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army, and was a homemaker and loved caring for her children and family. She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Irene (Johnny) McConaha of Parksville, Melissa Joe (Deacon) Adcock of Danville, Mary Ellen (Randy) Coleman of Stanford, two grandsons, J.J. (Maggie) McConaha, Steven McConaha, a great-granddaughter, Aubrey McConaha, a brother, Johnnie William Coffman, three sisters, Emma Jean Mciver, Vada Louise Belcher, and Birdie Mae Case. And many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a wonderful group of young men and women that loved to hang out with Mamma and Daddy Joe. And the beautiful children she babysat for. In addition to her parents and husband, Joe, she was preceded in death by her son, Stevie Gene Raley, five brothers, Homer, Arthur Thomas, Chester Ray, Walter Wesley Coffman, and Billie Joe Caldwell, two sisters, Joan Raley and Birdie Florence Daughtery.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday June 4, 2014 at Pleasant Run Baptist Church with Pastor Junior Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday June 3, 2014 from 5:oo am 8:00 pm, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Gladys Raley loved everyone. She saw the good in people and always felt there was good in everyone someplace. We will all miss her terribly.
