Roy Steinhardt, 92, of 1911 Kretsch court, Kiel, died Sunday morning, Aug. 4, 2002 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born June 22, 1910 in Plymouth, son of the late Ferdinand and Leta Ladewig Steinhardt. Roy was a 1929 graduate of Kiel High School and also was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1942 – 1945.
On Sept. 11, 1945, Roy married Emma Gross at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. Emma preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 1998. He was employed at A.A. Laun Furniture Company, Kiel for over 40 years, retiring in 1972. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, gardening, nurturing his many roses and was a baseball fan.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Steinhardt of Racine, Michael (Connie) Steinhardt of Kiel, Dennis (Karen) Steinhardt of West Bend and David Steinhardt of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Roeck of Neenah and one brother, Donald Steinhardt of Peoria, Ariz. He was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter UCC, with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs, officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel Cemetery.
