Well Known Kiel Resident Passes Away
Kiel-August Spranger, aged 82, well known resident of this city, died Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George Henschel, 906 North Seventh street. He passed away of the infirmities of old age after a lingering illness of eight weeks.
Deceased was born in Germany March 7, 1847, and came to this country at the age of six years. He was united in marriage to Miss Sophie Schuler of Town Rhine on July??, 1880. The couple resided on a farm in Town Rhine and in Indiana for a number of years. His wife preceded him in death in 1921 and since that time he has made his home with a daughter in this city. He is survived by four children, John of Salem, Oregon; Frank of Kokomo, Indiana; Mrs. George Henschel of Kiel and Mrs. Annie Jansen of Sheboygan, a step-daughter. Other survivors are four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Whilhelmina (sic) Schurichow of Chicago and one step-sister, Miss Louise Spranger of Sheboygan.
Funeral services will be conducted from the late home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. from St. Peter's Reformed church 3. The Rev. Mrs. Saewert will officiate and interment will be made in the family plot at Kiel cemetery.
