Nancy Studebaker was the daughter of Daniel Miller Studebaker and Nancy Hoover Wyland Studebaker. She was born a twin; her brother was Daniel Studebaker, Jr. Family records indicate she first married George Burns and had a daughter, Mary Burns. George died shortly after the marriage and Nancy then married his brother, Jacob, on January 23, 1853 in Marshall Co, IN. Jacob and Nancy were the parents of five children: John, Aaron, Elmira, Edward and Frank. Jacob probably died about 1965. Nancy married William Biss on October 2, 1866 in Menomonie, Dunn Co, WI after he and his first wife, Mary Pownell Biss, divorced. William and Mary were the parents of four daughters while William and Nancy were the parents of three sons:
Joseph Benjamin Biss 1/28/1868
William Shirman Biss 8/11/1872
Samuel Anderson Biss 7/21/1876
Nancy died on July 2, 1900 and is known to be buried in Orchard Beach Cemetery, Rice Lake, Barron Co, WI

NOTE: Nancy's grandfather, Philip Studebaker, was captured along with an older brother and sister, Joseph and Elizabeth, by the Delaware and Shawnee Indians during the French and Indian War. Philip's parents, Heinrich Studebaker and Unknown Kellough Studebaker, were murdered (along with a toddler and unborn infant). The three captured Studebaker children were adopted into the Delaware tribe. Philip was kept for six years, while his brother and sister were kept for nine years. Joseph and Philip assimilated back into society. Elizabeth could not adjust, returned to the Delaware Indians, and married a Chief. Heinrich Studebaker came to American in 1736, along with brothers Peter and Clement, and several cousins. The descendants of their cousins started the Studebaker Wagon Co, and later, the Studebaker Automobile Co.
