The three captured Studebaker children were adopted into the Delaware tribe. Philip was kept for six years, while his brother and sister were kept for nine years. Joseph and Philip assimilated back into society. Elizabeth could not adjust, returned to the Delaware Indians, and married a Chief. The descendants of their cousins started the Studebaker Wagon Co, and later, the Studebaker Automobile Co.
