BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. … Esther Kathryn Claiborne, 91, Baxter Springs, died at 7:13 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 1996, at a nursing home in Quapaw, Okla., after a long illness.
Mrs. Claiborne was born June 19, 1905, at Arcadia, Ind.
She worked as a clerk at Cole's Dress Shop, Coffeyville, retiring in 1972.
She moved to Baxter Springs in 1982.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Coffeyville, and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Baxter Springs.
She married Richard Henry Claiborne Sr. on Dec. 15, 1923, at Coffeyville. He died Oct. 30, 1953.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Baxter Springs, with the Rev. Charles Middleton officiating.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville.
Pallbearers will be Tom Lavery, Orville Mehaffey, Jim Briener, Bill Messbarger, Greg Kissel, Bud Johnson, T.J. Williamson, Ronald B. Claiborne and Richard A. Claiborne.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs.
