Aaron Kimbrough August 5, 1939 - July 21, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA— Mr. Aaron Kimbrough, MSG Retired, U.S. Army, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at VistaCare Hospice. He was 69 years old and resided at 2030 Paris Drive in Columbus, GA.
A native of Columbus, Mr. Kimbrough was born August 5, 1939, the son of the late Walter and Ruby Dean Jacob Kimbrough. A resident of Columbus for most of his life, he was a 1959 graduate of Spencer High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, retiring after 26 1/2 years of service. He was a devout member of Friendship Baptist Church and its Deacon Minisitry, Couples Sunday School Class and served as an Instructor of the New Members Class. He was a former member of the Ushers Ministry and Choir. He was a member of the 20/30 Club and a graduate of Columbus Technical College. Surviving are a devoted wife of 44 years, Mrs. Nettie Martin Kimbrough; two daughters: Rosalind McFadden (Maurice) of Vernon, CT, and Valrie Simmons (Alexander) of Monterey, CA; four grandchildren: Selena M. McFadden, Vivica M. Simmons, Savannah R. McFadden and Alexander A.J. Simmons; one sister: Cora L. Hawthorne of Columbus, GA; a god-daughter: Terry K. Williams of Columbus, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Other than his parents, Mr. Kimbrough was preceded in death by three siblings: Albert Kimbrough, Robert Kimbrough and Laura F. Price. MSG (Ret.) Aaron Kimbrough will be laid to rest with full military honors on Friday at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA after an 11:00 a.m. Homegoing Celebration service at Friendship Baptist Church. Major Alexander Simmons will deliver the eulogy. Visitation is 2:00-7:00 p.m. today at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Friday, July 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
