MR. RUDOLPH RUPPENTHAL passed away at his home here Saturday morning, Nov. 16th following an operation for a ruptured appendix.
Mr. Ruppenthal was born Feb 20th, 1873 at Kiel where he grew to manhood. He was married December 14, 1899 to Anna Zorn at Kiel. The same year he came with his bride to Hilbert where he entered into partnership in the hardware business with Peter Simpson. About four years later Mr. Simpson was compelled by poor heath to move west. Mr. Ruppenthal then took into partnership Ed Plank of Chilton. A short time later Mr. Plank withdrew and opened a hardware store at Forest Junction, when Mr. Ruppenthal took over the business himself and the fine new store building and residence are evidence of his very good business ability. Mr. Ruppenthal was a quiet sincere man who took pleasure in his home and enjoyed many pleasure trips with his family.
Those left to mourn his death besides his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Valleskey of Collins, one son, Edward at home, two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Noll of Chilton, Mrs. Louis Avery of Kiel, one brother, Adolph of Cascade.
The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home with interment in the Kiel cemetery, Rev. W. A. Arpke of Chilton officiating.
