Phillip Roger Atkinson, 72, of Dunkirk, Indiana, passed away on Sunday morning, December 13, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Phillip was born on May 30, 1937 in Portland, Indiana, the son of Erple and Irene (Hampshire) Atkinson.
He retired after working over 16 years for the Street and Water Department in the City of Dunkirk.
Phillip married Margie Blankinship in 1962. She preceded him in death on February 16, 1987.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Atkinson; daughters, Patty (Bill) Bye and Margaret (Don) Jasinski; sisters, Rosemary Williams, Ruth (Don) Morgan, and Nova Evans; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Portland Chapel. Pastor Randy Davis will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at a later date in the Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 from 3-7 p.m. prior to the service in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.
