Originally from Stanton, Kentucky, Weedie Garrett was hired by the Carrier Lumber Company to move to Sardis in 1905 to run the Company's Commissary. He later ran his own grocery and dry goods store. He married Laverna Harmon in 1908 and remained in the Sardis and Oxford area for the remainder of his life.
