Reburial Rites For Sgt. Chas. Rigsby
Set For Friday

Killed in Action in France
on Jan. 13 {1945}

Funeral services for Sgt. Charles Rigsby, Jr., who was killed in France, will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in the chapel of Wise Funeral Home. The body will arrive at noon Thursday by train. Reburial will be in Willow Wild Cemetery with the Rev. G. Henry Mood and John Salzman officiating at the service. The VFW will be pallbearers and will be in charge of the military service at the grave.

Sgt. Rigsby was born in Windom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rigsby Sr. He is survived by his wife Mary of Sherman; one daughter, Mary Charles, also of Sherman; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rigsby, of Bonham; three brothers; Claude Rigsby of Fort Hancock, Texas, Roy Rigsby of Dallas, Joe Rigsby, who is in the army at Camp Chaffee, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Wilhoit, Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. Alta Tosh of Lubbock, and Mrs. Mary Hindman, Honey Grove.

Sgt. Rigsby was killed in Action in France, January 13, 1945, while serving with an armored division of the 7th Army. He was previously reported missing in action. He enlisted in the army Aug. 14, 1940, at Fabens, Texas where he was engaged in the tailoring business. He was stationed at Fort Bliss where he qualified as an instructor of veterinary medicine but was transferred to the mechanized branch, and then received training at Camp Barkley, Camp Chaffee, Ark., and Camp Campbell, Ky. before going overseas in October 1944.
