Daniel "Denvy" Malm, 90, Kulm, N.D., died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.

Mr. Malm was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Swede Township, north of Kulm, the son of Gust and Alma (Holmquist) Malm. He grew up there and graduated from Kulm High School in 1938. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif., until he was drafted into the Army in March 1942. He served in George Patton's Third Army in Europe. He served from July 1944 until Sept. 5, 1945.

After his discharge from the Army, he farmed in Swede and Raney townships until he retired in 1982. He married LeNora Larson on Sept. 16, 1945, at Kulm. Since he retired, they spent winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. They were baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Kulm on March 22, 1953, where they have been lifelong members. He served as Sunday school superintendant and trustee for many years.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Laura (James) Nejfelt, Manassas, Va., and Julie Honsa, Mahtomedi, Minn.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Julia Davidson; and three brothers, Edwin, Elmo and Lewis.

Services: 2 p.m. today, Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm.
Burial: Swede Township Cemetery, rural Kulm.
