LTJG Harris was a graduate of the USNA Class of 1948. During the Korean War, Harris was a pilot of a AD-4 Skyraider fighter assigned to Attack Squadron 55 aboard the USS Princeton (CV-37). On June 28, 1951, Harris was on a combat mission over N. Korea. During a strafing attack on BU9826, his plane crashed and exploded. Harris' remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing.
