Clement Ollie Lejeune, Sr., 88, formerly of Lake Charles, passed away at 4:45 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings. He was born in Iota and raised in Bell City and was a graduate of Bell City High School. Mr. Lejeune was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army and a member of VFW Post #144. He worked briefly for Olin Matheson Corp. prior to the war. He was a retired rice farmer and owned and operated Oberlin Equipment Co., a Massey-Ferguson Implement dealer, for twenty-eight years. While living in Oberlin he was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, served as Grand Knight of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #3353, and also served as District Deputy. After moving to Lake Charles, he was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #3208 and Msgr. H. Cramers Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Mr. Lejeune was a member of the Lions Club, Mended Hearts and Alhambra International, Lake Charles Chapter 157. He is survived by his son, Clement O. Lejeune, Jr. of Oberlin; five daughters, Natalie Monceaux and husband Randy of Rayne, Deborah Lejeune, Jeanne Fontenot and husband Bob all of Lake Charles, Cynthia Brunson and husband Galand of Houston, TX, and Bernadette Courville and husband Julius of Lake Charles; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Luna Rose Ardoin of Eunice and Verlie Chaumont of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Dorothy Mae Natali Lejeune, 2nd wife Elma LaBove Lejeune, brother, Norbert Lejeune, sister, Anne "Jane" Burleson Popplewell, and three great grandchildren. His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Christ the King Catholic Church. Reverend Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation in the funeral home will be Friday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:30 PM with Reverend Gary Schexnayder officiating. Visitation will continue from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home or Families Helping Families.
