Funeral services for Edgar (Bigham) Woodward, 63, of Gatesville were held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel. Rev. M. V. Hemphill was the officiating minister and burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Woodward died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the local hospital.
He had lived in Gatesville since 1938. He was employed at Brown's cotton gin for 15 years and then at Schaub's feed mill for 18 years before retiring in 1968 because of ill health.
Mr. Woodward was born Aug. 10, 1909 in Coryell County and lived in this county all his life. He married Miss Aline Yates April 11, 1942.
He was a member of the Westview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Thomas Woodward of West and Henry Woodward of Gatesville; two daughters, Mrs.
Linda Hemphill and Mrs. Beulah Ruffin both of Gatesville; foster son, Staff Sgt. James Lassiter of Houston; two brothers, Chester Woodward of Gatesville and Willie Woodward of Gladewater; two sisters, Mrs. Noma Estes of Gatesville and Mrs. Mahn (P....?) of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
