John Woodward, 89, died at 6:50 p m. Wednesday at his home, 110 North Ninth Street, in Gatesville. He was a retired carpenter who had lived in Coryell County for 73 years.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. today (Friday) at Scott's Chapel with Rev. M. V. Hemphill officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Woodward, a native of Mississippi, came to Coryell County in 1891. He had lived in Gatesville since 1928.
He was married to Miss Cora Lee Thomas Aug. 9, 1903. She died in 1949.
Mr. Woodward was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Willie Woodward, Chester Woodward and Edgar (Bigun) Woodward, all of Gatesville; two daughters, Mrs. Thurman Estes of Gatesville and Mrs. Mable Brewer of Dallas; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
