Among the relatives of the late Daniel Strauss who attended his funeral were the following: Adam Strauss and wife, Frank Strauss and wife, Mrs. Phoebe Pashon, Mrs. Lizzie Shieblin, Mrs. (P)ena Jonnson, Wm. Pashon, and Sidney Eby, all of Huntington; Peter Strauss of Beach City, Ohio; Daniel Strauss, of Pierceton, and Jacob Strauss and family, of Laketon. (North Manchester Journal February 22, 1894)
J. W. Eby, who was raised near Liberty Mills and will be remembered by many of our citizens, attended the funeral of his brother-in-law, Daniel Strauss Mr. Eby, a number of years ago, moved to Furnas county. Neb, where he has become one of the wealthiest farmers and most respected citizens. This is his first visit here in several years. (North Manchester Journal February 22, 1894)
"Daniel Zintsmaster, a cousin of the late Daniel Strauss and a member of the 47th Regiment, residing near Andrews, came over on Saturday to attend the funeral of his comrade.

Another clipping on the same page states that Peter Pashon, a young man, was here for the funeral of his uncle, Daniel Strauss. Peter was well known in Laketon but was currently residing in Ottumwa, Iowa, and doing well in the undertaking business.
