The Buckhannon Delta Thursday, Jan 29, 1920

Mrs. W L Mulnix, of Newlonton, died at St Joseph's Hospital Saturday night, (24th) as the result of injuries received when she was thrown from a horse near her home Saturday forenoon. She was brought to the hospital here Saturday evening, where it was found that her skull was fractured. The body was shipped to Newlonton for interment.

Mrs. Mulnix who was but 18, years old, and newly married had started horseback for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A Gregory of Hacker Valley. Her husband was walking along side. The horse became frightened and bolted when a dog bit at its heels. At a sharp turn in the road, Mrs. Mulnix lost her balance and was thrown from the horse, alighting on her head. Her husband reached her side in a few moments, but she was unconscious and remained until death came. (Upshur County Census 1920; d/o John A Gregory & Rosetta Claypool.)
