Josef Panec came from Zhor Tabor, Bohemia in 1890.
In 1898, he married Josefine Hirsch.
They first farmed south of Humboldt and in 1901 bought a farm near DuBois.
They were the parents of six children, Frank, Marie, Albert & Josef. Two died as infants.

JOSEPH PANEC
Joseph Panec came to Humboldt via Hamburg and Baltimore from Zhor Tabor, Czechoslovakia, in 1890. With one dollar in his pocket he vowed that after he earned enough money he would sail back to his native land. He worked for the Dvoraks and Skalaks in 1898 he married Josephine Hirsch who had come in 1895 from Bela Nemecky Brod to her friends the Kotoucs at Humboldt. They first farmed south of Huumboldt and in 1901 bought the farm north of DuBois which is now Mrs. Panec's home. She is 83. He died in 1942. They raised four children Albert, Marie, Joseph and Frank.
