Antrim, Ohio was laid out by Alexander, Mar 1, 1830. Sections No. 1, No. 2, No. 9 and No. 10, situated in the northeastern corner of the township, were reserved by the state and set apart for school purposes when Guernsey county was formed. Alexander bought the northwest quarter of section No. 10, platted twenty-four lots, twelve on each side of the Steubenville road which passes through his quarter section and named his town Antrim, honoring the Irish ancestral home of certain Madison township people. Sometime between 1840 when Ellen their daughter was born and 1845 when Alexander married Susanna (Young) Cissna in Spencer County, Indiana that the family came to Spencer County, Indiana. It is not known if Esther died in Ohio, during the journey to Indiana or Spencer County, Indiana. He married Sarah (Anderson) Hagan in 1857.
