She was the widow of Carl S. Waters, a member of Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church, and a life-long resident of Maryville.
Born October 9, 1918, Grace was the daughter of the late D.L. and Susie Hall Bailey and was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Sue Bailey and Bess Stanbery; brothers, Wayne, A.I., Adrian, and Arnold Bailey.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and faithfully cared for her husband Carl, prior to his death in April 2006.
Grace was active for many years in her church and enjoyed housekeeping, gardening, and spending time with her family. During her early years she was known by her Rockford School classmates as a star basketball player, and in her later years she was an avid fan of women's collegiate basketball, rarely missing a TV appearance of the Lady Vols.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Janet Waters of Maryville; her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Carole Waters of Tuscaloosa, AL; her granddaughter, Callie Waters of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, grandson and wife, Griff and Crissi Waters of Homewood, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Mary Sue Thames and Alma Bailey of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. Grace is also survived by "The Apple of Her Eye", William Loper Waters, her nine-month old great grandson and son of Griff and Crissi.
Graveside service and interment will be held at Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church in the Wildwood Community at 11:00 am on Monday, January 28th, 2008 with Rev. Kim Isley officiating. Family visitation will be held after the services at the church.
