Clarissa (Elliott) Beebe was WIFE to
HUSBAND - Roswell Beebe

The couple were wed in 1835

She was MOTHER to two children
* SON - Roswell
* DAUGHTER - Cora

* In 1839, her husband drew up a plan
for the (fairly new) community of
Little Rock, laying off blocks
and streets.

* Beebe gave 'The State of Arkansas'
the title for the land on Markham Street,
where the then-new capitol building
is now located.

* In 1852, her husband donated land
for a public school.

* The Roswell family also donated
four blocks of land for a city owned
burial ground - Mount Holly Cemetery -
in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Her husband was Mayor of LR
- and a revered gentleman
in the community.
She was his helpmate in all
his endeavors.

The community of Beebe, Arkansas
was named for this family.
