Nellie Breen was born in Graafschap, Allegan County, Michigan on March 31, 1871. She was the daughter of Kryn Breen and Nellie Visser Breen and she was the second child of that family to be born after immigrating to America from Texel, Noord Holland, Netherlands in 1867.

On December 5, 1889 at the age of 18 she married Herman Miller in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. He was the son of Harm Mulder and Stientje (Stella) Smit Mulder. Herman changed his surname to Miller. This was the same Herman Miller who the furniture company in Zeeland is named for. Nellie and Herman Miller would become parents of six children: Stella Miller who married Henry Krombeen, Nellie Miller who married Dirk Jan DePree, Anna Miller who would marry Herbert C. Kling, Howard C Miller who married Martha Muller, Margaret Miller who married Stanley Harvey-Smith, and Earl Keith Miller. The Millers were married for fifty years when Nellie passed away on December 27, 1939. She was 67 years old at the time of her death.

ZEELAND, Dec. 28 (Special)- Mrs. Herman Miller, 68, died at her home, 214 East Central Ave., after a brief illness.

She is survived by the husband; four daughters, Mrs. Henry Krombeen of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Dick J. DuPree of Zeeland, Mrs. H. C. Kling of Niles, Mich., and Mrs. S. Harvey-Smith of Montreal, Canada; two sons, Howard C. of Zeeland and Earl K. of Holland; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild; five brothers, Paul and Roy Breen of Grand Rapids. Cornelius of Glendale, Calif., John and Peter of Holland; a sister, Mrs. Grace Jacobusse of Holland.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the home with the Rev. J. Lanting officiating. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller had lived in Zeeland many years. They observed their golden wedding anniversary just a few weeks ago.
