Silas Rowland was born Nov. 21, 1833, at Bristol, Morgan County, Ohio, and died at Newton, Kansas Dec. 10, 1917. His funeral was held yesterday, Dec. 12, from the Presbyterian church in Newton.
Silas Rowland was the last survivor of a family of twelve, being the children of Robert Rowland of Morgan County, Ohio. He was united in marriage with Helen Grant at Marietta, Ohio, April 1, 1861, of this marriage three children were born, Robert S. Rowland of Oklahoma City, Okla., Fred G. Rowland of Newton, Kans., now deceased, and Florence Miller of Pueblo, Colo. He had resided in Harvey County for forty years prior to his death.
