She worked at Dale Mabry Field during World War II and later retired from the Motor Vehicle Commission. She was a wonderful seamstress who lovingly sewed for her family.

Kate McDaniel Tharpe, 1414 Stevenson Drive, died Saturday at Tallahassee Memorial after a long illness. She was 81.
She was a native of DeFuniak Springs and had lived in Tallahassee since 1934. She was a retired employee of the State Motor Vehicle Commission.
Survivors include a son, Ben T. Tharpe, Tallahassee; a daughter, Mrs. Worthie Kinsey, Tallahassee; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Culley & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
