Cathryn Ida (Nicholson) Bennett was born June 3, 1949 in Eldora to Clifford and Esther (Bessman) Nicholson. She attended Alden schools, Ellsworth and Buena Vista colleges and Hamilton Business College. Cathryn was a member of the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden. She was enrolled as a student at Ellsworth College. Cathryn Ida (Nicholson) Bennett, age 48, passed away on Friday; July 25, 1997, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her partner, Deneen Lechner; a son, Daniel Bennett; a daugther, Lacinda Bennett both of Iowa Falls, her mother Esther Nicholson of Alden, four grandsons; two granddaughters; two brothers, Clifford Nicholson of Alden and Arthur Nicholson of Hampton; three sisters, Janice Swires of Eldora, Laura Hunt of Britt and Martha "Toots" Crosby of Wassau, Wis; a daughter- in-law, Janette Bennett of Eldora; She was preceded in death by her father and a son Christopher Bennett. May they rest in peace. Funeral services were held Tuesday; July 29, 1997 at the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden with the burial in the Buckeye Cemetery, the Reverend Bob Miller officiated. Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls was in charge of arrangements.
