Charlotte Helen (Gifford) Moscone, 92, passed away Dec. 24, 2009, surrounded by her family at her home in Bangor. Born Oct. 31, 1917, in Lee, daughter of Cecil and Inez (Hooke) Gifford of Mattawamkeag, she was lovingly raised by her great-aunt and great-uncle, Albion and Edith "Deedee" Hathaway of Medway, after her mother died when she was 2 1/2. Charlotte married Charles E. Moscone of East Millinocket in 1938. They moved to Massachusetts in 1956 settling in Boston and then Wakefield, before returning to Bangor in the early 1980s. Charlie passed away in 1998, just short of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Charlotte is survived by their two daughters, Julie LaCombe Antworth and her husband, Keith, of Bangor, and Jane Meador and her husband, Robert, of Denver; grandchildren, Jeffrey LaCombe of Veazie and his fiancee, Debbie Fitzpatrick, of Houlton, Carolyn LaCombe Carroll and her husband, John, of Swampscott, Mass., Ryan Meador of Worcester, Mass., and Paige Meador of Denver; stepgranddaughter, Terry LaCombe of Hudson; four precious great-grandchildren, Jackson LaCombe, and Madison, Mackenzie and Sydney Carroll; nieces and nephew, Joanne Saari, Jacqueline Pratt, and Carroll Gifford; and faithful granddogs, Snuggles and Jack.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Clayton Gifford of Millinocket; and sister, Verna Gentile of Melrose, Mass.
Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 12/28/2009)
