She graduated Tuskegee Institute in Alabama and attended Butler University in Indianapolis, teaching kindergarten and first grade for fourteen years at Schools 32, 41, and 106 in Indianapolis. She was a member of Second Christian Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, and the United Council of Negro Women. She died at age 48, survived by her widower, Isaac, and daughter, Fostena.
