An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, March 12, 1965:

T. J. (Jeff) Farris, 68-year-old farmer who had lived in Coryell County all his life, died early Saturday in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services were held at 4:30 p. m. Sunday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel and were conducted by Rev. Oilie Williams. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mr, Farris was born in Coryell County Jan. 16, 1897, and lived in the southeastern part of the county until his farm was purchased by the Army in the expansion of the Fort Hood reservation about 15 years ago. He had lived on Straw's Mill Road 2 1/2 miles southeast of Gatesville since that time.
Mr. Farris was a member of the Cold Springs Baptist church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Martha Farris of Gatesville; two sons, Ernest Farris and Melvin Farris, both of Rt. 2, Gatesville; two brothers, Jim Farris and Andrew Farris, both of Belton; three sisters, Mrs. Raby Lee of Flat; Mrs. Jennie Bettge of Flat; and Mrs. Earl Farmer of McGregor; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mr. Farris' funeral were Houston Gann, Allen Gannaway, J. T. Galloway, O. T. Thompson, Bill Jack Blanchard, and Robert Carothers.
