MRS. THOMAS HAYES DIED LAST FRIDAY
Mrs. Thomas B. Hayes, a long-time Nuckolls County resident, died in Superior, Friday, Oct. 5, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 13 days.
Mrs. Hayes was the former Effie Verden Durham. She was born in Singamon (sic) County, Ill., Oct. 22, 1879. She was united in marriage to Thomas B. Hayes at Belleville, Kan., Jan. 3, 1906. They lived on a farm near Bostwick for many years before moving to Superior. Mr. Hayes died two years ago.
Ten children were born to the union, six sons and four daughters. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Phil, and a daughter, Hattie.
Surviving are five sons, Albert of Seldon, Kan., Samuel of Bostwick, Neb., Charles of Superior, Thomas, jr., of Green Bay, Wis., and William of Lamar, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Cecil Klingenberger (Anna Mae) of Superior, Mrs. Alfred Bencken (Bertha) of Bostwick and Mrs. Herman Webber (Nione) of Red Cloud; one brother, Phil Durham of Superior; one sister, Mrs. Anna Huddle of Denver, Colo.; 30 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m., from the Megrue Funeral Home, with Rev. E. Ray Cameron officiating and interment was in Evergreen cemetery (sic). - Superior Express.
The eight grandsons of Mrs. Hayes acted as pallbearers.
