Born April 18, 1931, in Oliver Springs, she was the daughter of Skiley Curd Sr. and Willie Mae Young Curd, both now deceased.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Curd, and her sister, Alberta Curd Frazier.
She married James Capshaw in 1950, and they remained in Oliver Springs until 1957, when they moved to Oak Ridge.
She worked as a nanny and housekeeper at the Goswitz-Vodopick home in Oak Ridge for 28 years and was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Capshaw is survived by her son, Rondal Lee Capshaw and his wife, Katrina, of Knoxville; two daughters, Janice Capshaw Vines and her husband, Charlie Vines Jr. and Denise Capshaw and her fiancé, Chris Gaines, all of Oak Ridge; three brothers, Joe Lewis Curd and Skiley Curd Jr., both of Oliver Springs, and the Rev. Benjamin Curd of Morristown; a sister, Lena Mae Curd of Oliver Springs; two aunts, Mildred Harrison of Clinton and Lida Montgomery of Oliver Springs; and by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mary Apple, JoAnn Baker, Helen Land and Irene Timmons are considered special friends.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. T. L. Mims officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
